Appalachian Chapter President's Message

Appalachian Chapter President Sheri Crowe, CAP-OM, International President Tamra Goodall, CAP-OM, and GA Division President Barbara Wiley, CAP-OM

What a wonderful surprise the Appalachian Chapter had at our 19th Annual Administrative Professionals Week luncheon.  International President Tamra Goodall, CAP-OM was in attendance as a guest of GA Division President-Elect Jenny Stewart, CAP-OM.  Jenny was the guest speaker and brought the International President with her.

I had signed up to attend Atlanta Chapter's Breakfast and Seminar to hear our International President speak, giving her Making the Leap to Remarkable program, in hopes that I would get to meet her which of course I did the day before!  I had the opportunity to have a photo taken with GA Division President Barbara Wiley, CAP-OM and Tamra after she presented her program.  I call it The Three Presidents photo.  It was truly an honor to have meet Tamra.

A huge thank you to Jenny for being our guest speaker at our luncheon and presenting her Find Your Leadership Edge program.  I think it was perfect for celebrating APW.  I also want to recognize and thank Tara Gibson, CAP-OM, who was the APW chair, for a great job in planning our event, taking the reservations, and coordinating with the restaurant.  I also would like to thank Sharon Martin who was a committee member that handled getting all the wonderful door prizes.  Our Kroger gift card raffle drawing was a success- we made $200.00.  Thank you to all the chapter members who bought and sold tickets.  We had a wonderful crowd of 42 people in attendance which also bought tickets.  Seven students received a scholarship from the chapter.  Scholarship funds were made available by Operation Round-Up(R) through Amicalola Electric Membership Corporation.  I thank the Operation Round-Up trust board for their generosity.  Thank you to Debbie Parks who was the scholarship chair and handled getting out the information about the scholarship opportunity to the schools and collecting all the returned applications.  A whole lot of planning went into the event and I think it was a great luncheon!

I'm looking forward to having our chapter's board contact, Bonnie Judy, CAP-OM, GA Division Treasurer, attending our May meeting and being the guest speaker.  Look under Meetings & Events for more information.

One last person to thank is my employer, the Pickens County Progress.  They have been the sponsor of this website for this 2011-2012 year.  The link to their website is below.
